Message from the Pastor

05/07/2020

Dear Members,

On Sunday, I was hoping we would have everything in place to allow us to assemble in worship at the recommended 25% of our capacity. After meeting with my staff, it has come to my attention the task at hand is much greater than I anticipated. Please receive my recommendation moving forward to make sure we are doing all we can for the safety and the protection of all members of The Street.

At this time, we are asking those members who want to attend to come to church (worship only) on Sunday, May 17 (our 93rd Church Anniversary).  We strongly encourage persons age 65 or older, or those who have underlying medical conditions that make them susceptible to COVID, to please continuing watching service via live streaming.

For your safety and protection, please be mindful of the following:

  • Entry to the church will be through the double doors near the courtyard between the family life center and the administrative offices. No other doors will be accessible.  Members will not be permitted to visit the old sanctuary/fellowship hall/office areas.
  • Members are asked to wear masks or face coverings and to use hand sanitizer from the stand near the entry of the Family Life Center.
  • Please note your temperature may be taken with a thermometer scan at the door.
  • Families from the same household may sit together. However, every family or individual is required to sit six feet apart.  Ushers will ensure that no member/family sits closer than six feet to another member or family.
  • Once capacity is reached no one will be allowed to enter the Family Life Center.

Please note the plan above is subject to change based on any updated or new directive from Governor Abbott’s office or the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

With love and continued prayers for each of you,

M. C. Walker, Sr
Pastor M.C. Walker, Sr.

Dear Members,
As you know, on Monday, April 27th Governor Abbott announced the first phase of the State of Texas’ ongoing plan to safely and strategically open Texas while minimizing the spread of COVID-19.

Under Phase One certain services and activities can open with limited occupancy. Governor Abbott’s announcement included a detailed report with the protocols, guidance and recommendations. The report also includes a series of Open Texas Checklists that outline the Department of State Health Services minimum standard health protocols for all Texans.  To view the report, please access the link below. https://gov.texas.gov/uploads/files/organization/opentexas/OpenTexas-Report.pdf

Governor Abbot announced that churches and houses of worship may continue to hold services. His office, however, encourages churches to provide virtual services if possible. As a church, our focus remains on the safety of our members. At this time, services will continue to be live streamed. We will continue to monitor the situation and notify the church body of any changes or updates.
If the State determines there has been an increase in infections or God forbid casualties from COVID-19, the stay-in shelter order may be reinstated. I ask that you continue to stay safe. There is evidence to date that suggests that two groups of people are at a higher risk of getting severe COVID-19 disease. These are older people (persons over the age of 65) and persons of any age with underlying medical conditions (such as cardiovascular disease – including high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease – including COPD and asthma, any auto-immune disease and cancer).  For additional information, please visit the CDC website via the link below.

With love and continued prayers for each of you,
Pastor M.C. Walker, Sr.

03/27/2020 – Hello ENSBC,

JUST ANOTHER DAY TO GIVE GOD GLORY!  In spite of our troubles and our struggles we are still here – so we say, THANK YOU LORD!!  Let me take this opportunity to thank Our God for blessing me to serve such a great body of believers, you, the East Nineteenth Street Baptist Church.

Members in addition to the Covid-19 in-home-shelter we have many who are seriously ill among us.  Captains of the Deacons Sick & Shut-in Ministry please be certain to check on your assigned families.  If the phone number you have is not a good one check with Janice in the office to see if she has a different one.  Or, perhaps check with someone else who knows them so you can make every effort to reach out to them.

Ministry Leaders continue to communicate with your members keeping them abreast of what’s happing in your respective ministry/auxiliary.  Don’t hesitate to use the website to get that information our by contacting Rev. Milburn or Tory if you chose to do so.

Also, continue your financial giving either by Givelifly, mailing it in or dropping it off on Sunday.

Last but not least, I can’t thank those members enough for remembering me on my birthday with cards and gifts.  In spite of the pandemic you still showed your love, and I thank you for that. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________

03/26/2020 – Members of East 19th Street,

We Miss You All Greatly!  Please know we love you and pray each of you will be diligent in doing everything you can do to remain as healthy and virus free as you possibly can.  Pastor and I are praying and looking forward with great anticipation, the time when we are all able to see each other and worship together again!  In the meantime, BE BLESSED.

Your Pastor & Wife
